About the project
Offering skills training, seed funding and job placements we can improve knowledge, entrepreneurship and income opportunities leading to economic empowerment and reduce the cycle of poverty and exclusion.
This project addresses the barriers faced by women like Ms. Shanti, who missed the opportunity of schooling and have endured poverty, exploitation and violence. By providing basic education to 150 marginalised girls and women in Nayabazar, Kathmandu, we will build digital literacy, health knowledge, psychosocial counselling, and awareness of safety and rights. Complementary skills training, seed funding and job placement will improve entrepreneurship, employability and income generation, leading to economic empowerment and breaking the cycle of poverty and exclusion.
Ms. Shanti’s experience—forced into work and a deceptive marriage from a young age, left as the sole caregiver for her children and deprived of education—mirrors the risks many girls in Nepal face, including low-paid labour, discrimination, stress and violence that limit life choices.
This integrated programme creates lasting impact by strengthening confidence and independence through education, life skills and psychosocial support, while digital training and livelihood support enable sustainable incomes, reduce vulnerability to abuse and discrimination, and help women support their children’s education, building more resilient families and communities across generations.
Our program is situated in the Nayabazar community school, Kathmandu. Girls and women aged 16 to 45 years have the opportunity to visit the school from 6.30am till 6.30pm, 6 days per week to receive some form of education. Many of women work on building sites and are informal workers, they have had limited access to mainstream education and in many cases have left their villages to escape poverty and violence.
Your support is needed to assist with digital training, counselling services, health programs and practical training.
